1. Pursuant to Section 65 of the Legal Practitioners Act No 13/96, as read with Regulation 11.1 of the Law Society Regulations, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the Annual General Meeting of the Law Society of Botswana will be held on Saturday, 30th November 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at Travel Lodge, Kasane.
2. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT the business to be transacted at the Annual General Meeting shall be-;
2.1 confirmation of the minutes of the previous meeting;
2.2 consideration and adoption of the Chairman’s Report;
2.3 consideration and adoption of the Audited Annual Financial Statements of the Society;
2.4 consideration and transaction of any business, which the Council may deem expedient to submit to the meeting;
2.5 consideration and transaction of any special business of which due notice, as provided in Regulation 11.5, shall have been given by any member.
2.6 election of Council of the Law Society of Botswana.
3. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT in accordance with Regulation 11.2.4 as read in conjunction with Regulation 11.5, special business to be raised at the general meeting should be given to the Executive Secretary, in writing, at least twenty-eight (28) clear days before the date of the meeting; that is by close of business on Wednesday 23rd October 2024.
4. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT in accordance with Regulation 15.3 nominations for Council should be received by the Secretary, in writing, at least twenty-eight (28) clear days before the date of the meeting, that is by close of business on Wednesday 23rd October 2024.
5. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN THAT only members who hold practicing certificates or have paid Administration Fees in accordance with the Resolution of the Special General Meeting (SGM) held on the 11th July 2011 are eligible to participate and vote in person or by proxy.
6. NOTICE IS FINALLY GIVEN THAT no other business will be considered at this meeting.
